The Tower

the one who survives by making the lives of others worthwhile

she’s coming apart/ right before my eyes

the one who depends on the services she renders to those who

come knocking/ she’s seeing too clearly what she can’t be

what understanding defies/ she says

I need not to need

or else a love with intuition

someone who reaches out to my weakness

and won’t let go

I need not to need

I’ve always been the tower

but now I feel like I’m the flower

trying to bloom in snow

she turns out the light anticipating night falling tenderly around her

and watches the dusk/ the words won’t come/ she carries the act so

convincingly the fact is sometimes she believes it/ that she can be

happy the way things are/ be happy with the things she’s done

and yet

reach out but hold back/ where is safety/ reach out and hold back

where is the one who can change me/ where is the one

I feel like I’m the flower

trying to bloom in snow

the danger and the power

the friend and the foe

Don't you love it how good news is always followed by bad news?

And of course, we can't forget about the drama. I hate drama. I won't go into too much detail on here, but other than that summer school has been super busy!

Just 5 more days of public speaking and I'll be done with night classes! The class is a lot of fun and I met some wonderful people (especially this one guy...), but a three hour night class kills. Session C started last week. The concepts in Econ 1 are interesting, but the work itself is quite dry. The microbiology lab is cake right now. I feel like the class is babying its students. But it might pick up so I'm trying not to underestimate it right now. And research is awesome! It's so tiring, but I really like doing total synthesis. I wish I had more time and energy for it. My grad student is very nice and fun to talk to. He's also very neat, which is a plus. My professor is nice and actually knows me. But that means I need to brush up on my chemistry so he doesn't think I'm completely incompetent. >_>

That's about it for now. I'm seriously lacking sleep but I don't want to move from my comfy office chair! I miss everyone at home and can't wait for a break from Berkeley (even though 4th of July just passed).

Today was so hot! The weather here is so unpredicable >_< Felt like I was melting while sitting on the bus. But on a good note, it was a wonderful day to go swimming! My stamina is so low now T_T

My pounds of happiness shall now melt away once I get back to Berkeley. T_T
